Together – Music making for All Ages. A workshop for families.

November 6 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

An adapted Free for All for parents and children ( including the very young) to facilitate musical sound making.

Join us at Sawtooth ARI gallery as we make improvised music together. Explore the music stations that have been set up then we will gather together to improvise some music.

Instruments are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you are happy to share it with others!

The Facilitators

Di Nailon OAM has been a musical improvisor with young children for over 40 years in QLD and Tasmania, taking the lead from children to create musical experiences. She is a teacher in Arts Education at UTAS.

Suzanne Turner is a music educator and musicians based in Launceston. She plays violin, clarinet and keyboard and loves to improvise.

Both Di and Suzanne have current Tasmanian Teacher Registration and Working with Vulnerable People Registration.

ABOUT Free for All

All are welcome! Listen to some improvisation – Opt in at any time by adding your name to the chalice.

Choose an instrument you like the look of, pick something you’ve never tried before.

With the ensemble the chalice has chosen, create a soundscape of music you’ve never played before.

If it feels like its not working just keep going. If it feels like it is working just keep going.

At the end of each piece everyone claps wildly and says “Best Free For All Ever!”

No experience necessary!
