Free For All | First Set Performer | Rafe Addison Hall

Sawtooth ARI 58 Lindsay Street, Invermay, TAS

Rafe Addison Hall has been a Free For All regular since it began. He has been learning flute since age 3, and bass clarinet from age 9. His first Free For All performance as a featured artist showed how successful improvisation on flutes can be, no matter what the age of the performer. Now aged 10 he intends on repeating the experience with the inclusion of bass clarinet.

In this performance Rafe and his father Jon Addison will play a range of instruments, exploring the various tone qualities and styles it is possible to achieve with bass clarinet, flute, alto flute, bass flute and a range of wooden folk flutes.

Melissa Rogers has used the Free For All approach to group improvisation in primary and secondary school contexts with exciting results bringing young people together to create new sound worlds. For this session, she has lined up some younger improvisers to share their spontaneous inventions (some of which may generously include older people). It will be fresh and inspiring.
