First Set Performance by Maria Moles and Free for All today
— —
Sawtooth ARI Basement Level, Macquarie House, 92 Cameron Street, Launceston 7250
Today a First Set Performance at 4pm | Maria Moles is a Filipino-Australian drummer, composer and producer based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her solo percussion performances weave hypnotic webs from layers of unmetered pulse, gradually shifting through subtle changes in texture and timbre. In collaborative contexts spanning free improvisation, jazz, contemporary composition and experimental pop, Maria brings a keen sense of touch, placement and timbre, alongside a distinctive rhythmic sensibility and understated virtuosity. They will present… A fully improvised set on acoustic drums, exploring resonance, dynamics and timbre - ranging from delicate, textural playing to dense and powerful passages. This will be followed by Free for All, music making in the moment. Listen to some improvised music and join in. Instruments provided, no experience necessary.
It’s the World’s Smallest Improvised Music festival. Right here in Launceston! Check back soon for details about festival events, Performances and workshops, Science+Music, Jazz at The Royal Oak, join a Parade…
