WSIMF Jamming With Snapping Shrimp Workshop 2
— (AEDT, UTC+11) — (AEDT, UTC+11)
Sawtooth ARI Basement Level, Macquarie House, 92 Cameron Street, Launceston 725-
Ever wondered what the abundant reefs around Tasmania sound like? Emily Sheppard has been recording underwater sounds of the Great Southern Reef for the past few years. She will bring her hydrophone recordings for us to listen to and learn about the sounds made. Snapping shrimp tend to dominate the soundscape of healthy reef environments.
Emily will share recordings of work she has created with hydrophone recordings and violin, providing a taster of what is possible. Then, in small groups of 3-4, improvise sound and music in response to the recordings, and with the recordings. If you attended workshop 1 you will have the opportunity to develop your improv ideas with Emily, and perhaps bring your own recording along.
$10 for workshop. Free you attended workshop 1.
*There’s free parking in Paterson Street car park from 3:30-5:30
